Rams Defeat Compton 3-1 at Home

VICTORVILLE, Calif. – The Victor Valley College men's soccer team earned a convincing 3-1 victory over Compton College on Tuesday evening at VVC Athletic Stadium, improving to 4-2-1 on the season.


The Rams wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Mina Attalla finished off a pass from Anthony Hernandez in the eighth minute to give Victor Valley an early 1-0 lead.

After taking the one-goal advantage into halftime, the Rams exploded offensively midway through the second half. Jesse Figueroa doubled the lead with an unassisted goal before Hernandez added another less than a minute later off an assist from Attalla to put Victor Valley comfortably ahead 3-0.


Compton found the net in the 78th minute, but the Rams' defense remained organized and closed out the match to secure the home victory.

Victor Valley controlled much of the attacking play, outshooting Compton 16-12 and holding a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Rams also earned twice as many corner kicks while committing fewer than half as many fouls as their opponents.

Defensive Effort

Goalkeeper Leonardo Corona recorded three saves while helping lead a defensive unit that limited Compton to just four shots on target. Victor Valley's back line consistently disrupted scoring opportunities and allowed only one goal despite facing 12 total shots.
